GRST TRAIL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

June 23 - June 27
Note: See our Club’s Facebook page or contact Mark Redl (108atvclub@gmail.com) for updates/specifics on daily timings and location.
The 108 ATV Club has received grant funding to improve a section of the Gold Rush Snowmobile Trail (GRST) connector between the 100 Mile Snowmobile Clubhouse parking lot trailhead and Valentine Lake Road.
Our goal is to reduce or eliminate mud holes, improve drainage, and create a safer, more enjoyable trail for all users.
We have some fantastic support from our partners:
✅ Sanders Ready Mix has generously agreed to provide access to gravel from their pit on Valentine Lake Road.
✅ Performance All Terrain Rentals has provided the use of a mini excavator, which will be used to improve drainage around mud holes and assist with spreading gravel.
Now we need volunteers to help make this project a success!
We are looking for:
Gravel trucks and drivers
Equipment operators
ATV and SxS riders willing to pull our five tire pulls to help spread and level the gravel
Chainsaw operators to clear any obstacles as required
General volunteers willing to lend a hand
📅 Project Dates: June 22–27, 2026
Monday, June 22 – Kickoff Day
Volunteers are asked to meet at 8:30 AM on Valentine Lake Road, at the junction where the Gold Rush Snowmobile Trail (GRST) meets Valentine Lake Road, just before the entrance to the Sanders Ready Mix gravel pit.
GPS coordinates and a map are attached. Click on link to map route to the starting location.
Please arrive a few minutes early so we can organize crews, review safety procedures, and coordinate equipment and trucking assignments before work begins.
The club will cover fuel costs for volunteer gravel trucks and ORVs used to pull the tire pulls through the grant funding.
Safety Requirements
All volunteers are expected to bring and wear appropriate safety gear, including:
Steel-toed boots
High-visibility safety vest
Work gloves
Safety glasses
Helmet (where required)
Chainsaw safety equipment for those operating chainsaws
Please bring your own lunch, snacks, and drinking water each day.
Our goal is to work smart, work safely, and have fun while improving an important section of trail that benefits ATV riders, snowmobilers, hikers, hunters, anglers, and other outdoor recreation users.
If you have equipment, skills, or experience in road building, road maintenance, drainage improvements, gravel placement, or trail construction that you feel could assist with this project, please contact me. We are open to suggestions and would welcome additional expertise and equipment that can help make this project more efficient and successful.
Even if you can only help for a few hours or one day, your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
If you have a truck, equipment experience, a chainsaw, or would simply like to help, please comment below or contact Mark Redl directly.
Many hands make light work, and together we can make a significant improvement to this section of the GRST!
As a thank-you to everyone who participates, we will host a volunteer get-together once the project is complete.
Thank you to all our volunteers and partners for helping us maintain and improve our trails.
