YES — YOU CAN NOW LEGALLY RIDE YOUR ORV INTO 100 MILE HOUSE!
The District of 100 Mile House has adopted Off-Road Vehicle Bylaw No. 1482, 2026, allowing properly permitted ORVs to operate on designated streets within the District.
Before the new bylaw, you could not legally ride your ORV into 100 Mile House to access fuel, restaurants, groceries, accommodations, shopping and other services.
NOW YOU CAN!
You simply need to meet the requirements and obtain a FREE RCMP Operating Permit.
Summary of Requirements
Before riding your ORV on designated streets in 100 Mile House, you need:
Valid driver’s licence
Current ORV registration and licence plate
Minimum $2 million ICBC Third Party Liability insurance
FREE RCMP MV1815 Operating Permit
100 Mile House Designated Roads Map
Required helmet, seatbelt, lights and safety equipment
Obey all traffic laws and the 100 Mile House ORV Bylaw
That’s it!
Planning to continue onto Crown land, trails or Forest Service Roads? You also need appropriate private ORV insurance for your off-road riding.
HOW TO GET YOUR FREE RCMP OPERATING PERMIT
STEP 1 — DOWNLOAD THE MV1815
Download the 100 Mile House RCMP MV1815 Operating Permit (link below)
Complete the required information on the form.
STEP 2 — GET YOUR DOCUMENTS READY
You will need clear, legible copies or photographs of:
- Your completed MV1815 Operating Permit
- Your valid driver’s licence
- Your current ORV registration
- Your ICBC insurance showing a minimum of $2 million Third Party Liability coverage
DON’T HAVE A SCANNER?
No problem. Clear, legible photographs are acceptable.
The important thing is that all information is clearly readable.
NEED AN EXAMPLE?
We’ve created a sample package showing what the completed documents should look like.
The sample is for reference only. You must submit your own information and documents.
STEP 3 — UNDERSTAND YOUR INSURANCE
This is important, but it’s actually quite simple:
RIDING ON PUBLIC ROADS
For the designated streets of 100 Mile House, you need minimum $2 million ICBC Third Party Liability insurance.
This road-use coverage is relatively inexpensive because it does not replace your regular off-road insurance.
RIDING OFF-ROAD
For Crown land, trails and Forest Service Roads, you still need the appropriate private ORV liability insurance.
RIDING BOTH?
You currently need both.
The 108 ATV Club and ATVBC are working with ICBC and private insurance providers to clarify and simplify these requirements and determine whether unnecessary duplication can be reduced or eliminated.
Until then, make sure you have the appropriate coverage for where you ride.

STEP 4 — EMAIL YOUR APPLICATION TO THE RCMP
Email your completed application and documents to:

Driver’s licence
Current ORV registration
ICBC insurance showing minimum $2 million Third Party Liability
Before pressing SEND, make sure everything is attached, current and clearly legible.
STEP 5 — RECEIVE YOUR PERMIT
The RCMP will review your application.
Once approved, your signed and validated MV1815 Operating Permit will be returned to you.
YOUR RCMP OPERATING PERMIT IS FREE.
Please allow the RCMP appropriate time to process applications. Policing duties will always take priority and turnaround times cannot be guaranteed.

The RCMP prefers applications to be submitted electronically.
During the initial implementation period, walk-in applications are also being accepted at the:

You are required to stay on the designated routes and carry the map while operating your ORV within the District.
Also carry your:
- Valid driver’s licence
- ORV registration
- Insurance documentation
- Validated RCMP Operating Permit

RIDING IN 100 MILE HOUSE
Stay on designated routes
Obey speed limits and traffic laws
Keep right and allow vehicles to pass safely
Wear required helmets and seatbelts
Use required lights and safety equipment
Respect pedestrians, residents, businesses and other road users
No ORVs in municipal parks
Do not operate outside the permitted hours
KNOW THE HOURS
ORVs may operate between:
7:00 AM AND 10:00 PM
However, ORVs may not operate between one-half hour after sunset and one-half hour before sunrise.
In simple terms: DON’T RIDE AFTER DARK.
WHERE CAN I RIDE?
ORVs may use the designated streets shown on the official District map. (see above)
Exeter Road currently provides access to the Gold Rush Snowmobile Trail (GRST) and connections to other riding areas.
We continue to work toward improving ORV access through the 99 Mile area and toward the 100 Mile Snowmobile Club.
Until additional access is officially approved:

More than three years of collaboration and advocacy went into achieving legal ORV access to 100 Mile House.
This is great news for riders, residents, local businesses and tourism.
But road access is: A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT.
Ride legally. Ride safely. Respect residents, businesses, pedestrians and other road users.
